This month's energy tip: Turn off kitchen and bathroom ventilation fans
when not in use. All the heat in your home can be drawn out through an
exhaust vent in just one hour.

Natural gas marketers quote only the gas rates, but your bill includes
customer service fees and other charges that add up. Be sure to compare
rates on an "Apples-to-Apples" basis, which includes everything on your
bill except taxes. Here are the "Apples-to-Apples" per-therm rates
offered by Georgia marketers this month:

1) blackEnergy ( www.blackenergy.com ): $1.34 Variable or $1.87 Fixed
2) Commerce Energy (877-226-5389): $1.56 Variable or $1.68 Fixed
3) Coweta-Fayette EMC (877-RING-EMC): $1.55 Variable or $1.81 Fixed
4) GasKey (877-GAS-1KEY): $1.60 Variable or $1.80 Fixed
5) Gas South (866-762-6427): $1.46 Variable or $1.72 Fixed
6) Georgia Natural Gas (877-850-6200): $1.48 Variable or $1.78 Fixed
7) Infinite Energy (877-DIAL-IEI): $1.44 Variable or $1.87 Fixed
8) Scana Energy (877-GO-SCANA): $1.60 Variable or $1.83 Fixed
9) Shell Energy (877-67-SHELL): $1.63 Variable or $1.66 Fixed
10) Vectren Source (866-200-5693): $1.39 Variable or $1.75 Fixed
11) Walton EMC (866-WEMC-GAS): $1.40 Variable or $1.69 Fixed

Contact your chosen marketer to sign up for a monthly variable rate or
one-year fixed rate. They'll order Atlanta Gas Light to transfer your
account, and you'll be switched to your new marketer on the 1st of next
month if you call by the 19th.

I see the cost of natrual gas is down over 50% from it's high in
December. I wonder why the residential rates are only down about
22% ? Is this what they call price gouging ?

Danggg.... Im soooo beyond sick of the hole gas thing. It seemed right
before xmas they were finnally making a chg and putting the gas prices
down. I think the lowest i saw it get was around 1.60s around a week or
two before xmas, then it started going back up again.... ahhhh. I
figured ok maybe its for "the stupid xmas season price hike" but hell
they never went back lol. And away we went right back to over 2 bucks
again...

Now where we are at we only have the propain option. So we really dont
see to much price hikes because we buy up i guess u could call it a
tank full. And weve been here long enought we've learned how to
concerve it certain ways. And its pretty cool cus now we can use maybe
a tank - tank and a half a year and its like 300-400 to fill it up.
(for a year lol) But some ppl can use a tank in a month running the
heater at 80 (tooo hot lol) At first i hated it, but they did that
deregulation crap a couple years after we moved here, and i was soooooo
greatfull when i saw my moms first gas bill for the summer and her
pilot light was costing 50-75 bucks.... lol.

K sorry to yak ur ear off. Thanks for replying back

You can check on Georgia Natural Gas by calling this number and
following thru the menu.

770-850-6200 in Atl or 1-877-850-6200 outside.

The cost of gas to the distributors has dropped over 50% since
December. I wonder when they will start passing along the savings
to us ?

I just called Georgia Natural Gas and their variable market rate is
now $1.269 cents a therm. That's high, but not nearly as bad as it
was.
