This month's energy tip: Keep curtains and blinds closed at night to
keep cold air out, but open them during the day to let the sun warm
your rooms.

Natural gas marketers quote only the gas rates, but your bill includes
customer service fees and other charges that add up. Be sure to compare
rates on an "Apples-to-Apples" basis, which includes everything on your
bill except taxes. Here are the "Apples-to-Apples" per-therm rates
offered by Georgia marketers this month:

1) blackEnergy ( www.blackenergy.com ): $1.65 Variable or $1.88 Fixed
2) Commerce Energy (877-226-5389): $1.88 Variable or $1.75 Fixed
3) Coweta-Fayette EMC (877-RING-EMC): $1.68 Variable or $1.91 Fixed
4) GasKey (877-GAS-1KEY): $1.68 Variable or $1.87 Fixed
5) Gas South (866-SOCO-GAS): $1.77 Variable or $1.85 Fixed
6) Georgia Natural Gas (877-850-6200): $1.69 Variable or $1.88 Fixed
7) Infinite Energy (877-DIAL-IEI): $1.75 Variable or $1.88 Fixed
8) Scana Energy (877-GO-SCANA): $1.76 Variable or $1.91 Fixed
9) Shell Energy (877-67-SHELL): $1.75 Variable or $1.92 Fixed
10) Vectren Source (866-200-5693): $1.70 Variable or $1.89 Fixed
11) Walton EMC (866-WEMC-GAS): $1.67 Variable or $1.82 Fixed

Contact your chosen marketer to sign up for a monthly variable rate or
one-year fixed rate. They'll order Atlanta Gas Light to transfer your
account, and you'll be switched to your new marketer on the 1st of next
month if you call by the 19th.

Last month the wholesale price for natural gas was about $15.60 a
MMBTU. Which is what the Gas Companies pay.

Today it is $9.62. Down 38%. But you guys are still charging as
thought your costs had not fallen ? We may need to get Congress to
re-regulate this industry. Who represents you guys in Congress ?
Abramoff & Associates ?

That's the way it usually goes Gary. Gasoline retailers do the same.
There's usually a delay in price adjustment when the price they
pay drops, but an immediate adjustment when it rises; not
really surprising is it...
